Government announces appointments to Travel Industry Authority

The Government announced today (January 17) that the Chief Executive has appointed Dr Louisa Lee Yee-sum, Mr Tommy Tam Kwong-shun, Mr Ng Hi-on and Mr Ricky Tse Kam-shan as members of the Travel Industry Authority (TIA) from January 17 to December 31, 2025.

Dr Lee is an associate professor of the Hong Kong Metropolitan University, while Mr Tam, Mr Ng and Mr Tse are the new chairperson and the two deputy chairpersons of the Board of Directors of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong respectively.

A spokesman for the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau said, "The Government welcomes the four members joining the TIA to render valuable advice to the TIA on the licensing and regulation of travel agents, tourist guides and tour escorts as well as promoting the high-quality development of the industry. We would also like to express our gratitude to Dr Barry Mak Lui-ming and Ms Gianna Wong Mei-kiu for their dedicated service during their tenure."

The TIA is a statutory regulatory body of the travel industry established under the Travel Industry Ordinance. It is primarily responsible for the licensing and regulation of travel agents, tourist guides and tour escorts.

Hongkong Post announces sale of philatelic products of various postal administrations

​Hongkong Post announced today (January 17) that selected philatelic products issued by China Post, Macao Post and Telecommunications and the postal administrations of Australia, Isle of Man, Japan, New Zealand and the United Kingdom will be available for sale from January 21 (Tuesday).

China Post issued "Daocheng Yading" to showcase the unique land features and landscapes of Daocheng Yading, including snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes, forests and grasslands. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, Macao Post and Telecommunications issued a set of stamps featuring the lotus flower, which represents the harmony and stability of Macao after its return to China, as well as prosperity and a thriving society. A set of stamps, which depicts the daily routines of the garrison stationed in Macao and conveys their positive image as "powerful, civilised, having the love of Macao and the common touch", was also issued for the 25th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army Garrison stationed in Macao. Meanwhile, Macao Post and Telecommunications released "Collections of the Palace Museum" stamps to present the clock collections made by meticulous mechanical work and extravagant decorative workmanship.

As for other philatelic products, Australia Post issued a set of stamps themed "Seals" to showcase four seal species that live in Antarctic waters. Japan Post issued "Winter Greetings 2024" stamps featuring winter landscapes embellished with snow and starlight, bringing out the winter atmosphere. The Isle of Man Post Office, in partnership with the Isle of Man Astronomical Society and Visit Isle of Man, issued a collection of stamps capturing the stunning aurora borealis.

The selected philatelic products will be available for sale at the Hongkong Post online shopping mall ShopThruPost (shopthrupost.hongkongpost.hk) starting from 9am on January 21 while stocks last. These products will also be available at the PostShop of the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office on the same day. Details of each product, the prices and sales quotas are set out in the Appendix.
